Top 10 Money Wasters
If you find yourself in a financial pinch more often than not, you might want to take a step back and figure out where your money is going. Payday loans are a great short-term solution to cash flow problems, but you'll want to supplement them with some permanent changes in your spending habits. We've compiled a list of the biggest money wasters so you can avoid them.
- Eating out - It's no secret that restaurants (even the fast-food kind) overcharge you for the convenience of food on the go. Even if you eat out just one $9 meal per weekday, you are wasting over $2,000 per year! Wouldn't it be nice to have an extra $2,000 in annual income? Think about bringing food from home.
- Morning lattes. That latte or cappuccino you have every morning could be doing you in financially. It might not seem like a lot, maybe as little as $2 per day, but it adds up. If you're drinking the cheap stuff five days per week, then you're shelling out about $500 per year just in java! If you're drinking pricey Starbucks, your numbers are probably closer to the thousands. Brew your own or go without.
- Booze. Drinks are not cheap, and the cost is usually augmented by the tip. If you have two beers per day after work (at $5 per beer, including tip), you will spend over $3,500 per year! If you're drinking mixed drinks, you can double that figure. Is it worth it?
- Cigarettes. If you smoke, then you're paying an average of $4.54 per pack. If you smoke a pack a day, you spend just under $2,000 per year. Even pack-per-week smokers will spend about $230 per year.
- Bottled water from gas stations/convenience stores. The price of bottled water at these places is ridiculously inflated, and a bottle per day will cost you about $350 per year.
- Vending machines. If you hit the vending machine every day for a pop or a snack at work, you'll spend close to $300 per year and consume a lot of empty calories in the process!
- Dormant memberships. The gym membership that you pay for every month but don't use is costing you. Cancel it.
- Car washes. Having your car detailed or washed is pricey.detailing your car every two months will cost $350/year. Do it yourself to save money.
- Credit card interest. Making minimum payments and wracking up interest will cost you thousands in the long-run.
- Manicures. A weekly manicure, assuming it costs about $20, will cost you around a $1,000 per year.
